Miss Sarah Pateman 1851-1918 Obituary and broken BRICK WALL !!!!!!!!!!

The Gosford Times and Wyong District Advocate (NSW : 1906 - 1954)  Thu 10 Jan 1918

Death of Miss Sarah Pateman. We take the following from the Cessnock Eagle : —

The death took place on 7th instant, at her late residence, Quarrybylong, after a brief illness, of Miss Sarah Pateman, aged 67 years.

The deceased lady was born at Pennant Hills and spent some of her early days at Wollombi and Wattagan Creek.

She also resided with her brother-in-law, Mr. Joseph Lancaster Link to Lancaster , at Cessnock, Buchanan, and Wyee. Mr. Lancaster was in those days a well-known sleeper contractor and mill proprietor at Wyee.

After Mr. Lancaster removed from the district to the Richmond River the late Miss Pateman resided at Quarrybylong with her mother and sister, where they had selected land. They toiled and built themselves a nice home, which was a credit to them. The mother died 29 years ago.

The deceased lady was of a kind and generous disposition, and in cases of sickness her readiness to act as nurse and her ability as such were well known. In this respect she will be sadly missed.

Her Grandmother Charlotte Barns or Bates, wife of Samuel Pateman Convict, Pennant Hills, NSW
